Attractions
In Cap d’Agde the word boredom doesn’t really exist, as there are a lot of things to do. For those who like to relax there is a golf course and a park and for those who like pure unrestrained and unlimited fun there is the aquatic theme park Aqualand.
Transportation
Many would say the easiest way into town is by plane. Although this is somewhat true if you live outside Europe, Europeans tend to take another approach and travel to Cap d’Agde by train or even own means of transportation.
Events
Every year Cap d’Agde is host to marvelous as well as thrilling events. Beside the the sand sculpting festival in May, which will test your creativity, there is also a breath taking fireworks night in July and a chilling last swim of the year in December.
Restaurants & Nightlife
Dining out around the town makes for quite a wonderful experience as the cuisine is exquisite. Beside the local specialties of fish and seafood, the area also offers traditional French cuisine as well as very good Italian dishes.
History & Civilization
The land adjoining the long sandy beach at Cap d’Agde was owned for many years by the Oltra family who farmed the olive groves behind the sand dunes adjoining the beach. After World War II the brothers noticed that people were coming in increasing numbers to camp on their land, and that many of these people liked to bathe and to sunbathe nude.
The Naturist Village
Cap d’Agde is one of the best known nudist beaches in the world as well as a large family-style naturist resort. The Naturist Village is a large fenced-off part at the north-eastern edge of Cap d’Agde, although it is accessible along the public beach from the east.
